VARIO Free Ammonia Reagent Solution, 5 mL

When combined with the VARIO Monochlor F Reagent, this reagent is used to detect the presence of free ammonia in a chloraminated water sample using the Indophenol method. It can be purchased individually, or as part of the VARIO Monochloramine Reagent Set, which delivers everything needed for the determination of free ammonia and monochloramines on the same sample.

As a rule, liquid reagents do not consist of a single preparation but comprise several components that need to be added to the sample in a certain order. Both the size and the number of drops have a decisive effect on the resultant colour complex, so the reagents need to be added with a high degree of precision. The shelf life of liquid reagents is reduced by temporary contact with oxygen in the air once the bottle is opened, as well as by unsuitable storage conditions (sunlight or high temperatures).
